Hydro Belize Supports 120 Primary School Students Through2026 Back-to-School School Bag Giveaway
San Ignacio, Belize (August 10, 2026) – Hydro Belize Limited welcomed 120 primary school students and their families to its 2026 Back-to-School School Bag Giveaway on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Company’s headquarters in San Ignacio.
This year’s initiative supported students between the ages of 5 and 12 from six primary schools serving communities along the Macal River: Holy Cross R.C. School – Calla Creek; Cristo Rey R.C. School – Cristo Rey; Immaculate Conception RC Primary School – Bullet Tree Falls; Faith Nazarene Primary School – San Ignacio; Santa Familia R.C. School – Santa Familia; and Santa Elena Primary School – Santa Elena. Each participating school identified 20 students to take part in the initiative.
Each student received a new school bag filled with essential school supplies to help them prepare for the upcoming academic year. Hydro Belize employees volunteered ahead of the event to organize supplies and pack the school bags for distribution.
This year’s program was designed to create a fun and encouraging experience for the children while reinforcing positive messages they can carry with them into the new school year. The afternoon began with welcome remarks from Yaksim Betty Tam Moreno, VP Finance, Corporate Secretary & CFO, followed by an interactive safety presentation. Students then participated in the “Hydro Belize Says” icebreaker before receiving words of encouragement focused on perseverance and believing in their ability to succeed.
The students were then presented with their school bags, with Jose Riveroll, VP Operations, participating alongside Hydro Belize employees in the distribution to students. Students and their families later joined the Hydro Belize team for refreshments, group photos, games, and other fun activities. Hydro Belize employees volunteered throughout the afternoon, assisting with registration, presentations, school bag distribution, refreshments, photography, and children’s activities.
The Back-to-School School Bag Giveaway forms part of Hydro Belize's broader Corporate Social Responsibility efforts and builds on the Company's ongoing engagement with communities along the Macal River. Most recently, Hydro Belize conducted a series of Public Information Sessions in these communities in July, providing residents with information and an opportunity to engage directly with Company representatives.
